Topic: Small talk...

As this is the coffee room and I'm in the UK, I'd just like to say that the weather here has been very poor of late.
Rain rain rain.

Hi easteasy...welcome. We could do with some of that here in Perth.

The temperatures recently have been >40C in fact at the moment its still 26C outside.

I'm hoping this forum will develop...it does take a while to establish a user base. Good to hear from you.

Re: Small talk...

Hello again,

Just travelled back home to Scotland for a mate's wedding (Aviemore actually) from my current abode in Guernsey last week...
You might be interested to know that we had the wedding ceremony outdoors, with 4 inches of snow and -6'c at 2.30 in the afternoon. The sun was out with not a cloud in the sky and no wind at all; which is just as well really, as most of the fellas were in kilts (myself included).
The previous night's temp had managed an impressive -16'c, so the -6 was a bit of a relief, all things considered.
Seems that these temps have been pretty commonplace for the last couple of months too.

Best thing was that the hotel bar had 75 single malts- just the job for the chilled extemities.
Fantastic. Now that's a winter...

How's the heatstroke over there?

Hi easteasy,

Wow...Guernsey, must be a nice place to work. It conjours up all these images of a series called Bergerac I used to watch on the telly many moons ago

Yeah! my wife is from a place called Newton Mearns on the outskirts of Glasgow...she's not long returned from a trip back there and complained of the bitter cold.....once you've spent any length of time here in WA, its easy to forget what cold really is as our winters are pretty mild compared to Scotland.

Och! a wee dram

Sunday officially was the last day of summer here. However, the temps are still in the 30'ies but will now start to tail off over the next month or so...a good time of year to visit as it will be milder with temps mid-high 20'ies.
